The mission of the Campus Ministry and the Catholic Student Association is to uphold the values of the USCCB’s pastoral letter Empowered By the Spirit within the Columbia collegiate community by providing programming that promotes growth in the spiritual, emotional and academic lives of students through an intentional Catholic faith community that is rooted in the love of God and neighbor.
Give 6 Hours to God this Lent
Campus Ministry and the Peer Ministers are challenging all college students this Lent to spend six hours preparing for the Easter season. While it is customary to “give up” something as a spiritual practice, this year, consider “picking up” a spiritual practice as an opportunity to deepen your relationship with God. Peer Ministers will be hosting special six-week small group bible studies focused on Lent and preparing for the Easter season. Starting this week, four groups are available for students. Groups will meet at Newman and last no longer than an hour. That’s only six hours over the next six weeks! Available groups:
Mondays at 6pm, contact: Laura ([email protected])
Tuesdays at 6pm, contact: Taylor ([email protected])
Wednesdays at 8pm, contact: Jessica ([email protected])
Thursdays at 7pm (women’s group), contact: Darby ([email protected])
For students wishing to read the Lenten book, “Seek the Face of God,” Br. Samuel will host a student book discussion at 8:30pm on Tuesdays. Though it will be helpful for you to read before you attend, it won’t be necessary for you to participate in the discussion.
