Newman is planning to have its Summer Blood Drive up in our MPR on Sunday, July 26, and the American Red Cross says that it will be very safe. Masks will be worn, social distancing will take place at all times except the actual blood draw, and all surfaces will be cleaned repeatedly. We will try to more carefully schedule donors to keep a lower number of folks present in the room. The actual need for blood was low during the “lock-down,” which was good because of the many cancelled blood drives. But now with elective surgeries back on and trauma cases increased with moving traffic, the need for blood is great. If you are healthy and willing to come out during this COVID-19 pandemic to help those in need, please mark your calendar for Sunday, July 26. Information about how to sign up electronically to schedule a blood donation will follow soon.
