Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children age 3 up to 5th grade are dismissed before the readings during the 9 a.m. & 11a.m. Masses to listen to the Sunday scriptures at their own level of understanding.  Kids are split into age-level groups and read the gospel and unpack it together through discussion, games and activities.  The leaders bring the Word to life in ways that kids can understand.  No need to sign-up in advance, just come forward for the dismissal.  Parents are always welcome to come if kids are new or you’d just like to check things out.

First Reconciliation & First Communion Preparation

First Reconciliation preparation begins in 2nd Grade, with a mandatory parent’s meeting held in September. Although preparation for this sacrament is family-based, the 2nd Grade catechists support and enhance the learning experience in the classroom. Our First Reconciliation Service is in November. There is a fee for the child’s workbook and materials.

Important Dates for 1st Reconciliation 2016

First Eucharist preparation also begins in the 2nd grade and is very similar to the First Reconciliation program. Parents must attend the Parent’s Meeting in January. Families attend a Banner-Making/Stations Night in the spring where they learn more about the sacrament and also make a personal banner for our First Eucharist Mass. Children must also interview with the priest. There is a fee for the materials.
