General Information on Business Sponsorships

Business sponsorships allow Campus Ministry to continue serving our student community.  If you are interested in becoming a business sponsor, you can commit online or contact joann@comonewman.org for more information.

Your annual business sponsorship of Campus Ministry at the St. Thomas More Newman Center will serve a vital role for our growing ministry. As a thank you for your support, we wish to recognize your contribution to our students, parents, alumni, and parishioners. We will do this through:

  • Newman Magazine – 4 issues per year, distributed to 600+ families in Columbia and available online.
  • Alumni/Parent Newsletter – 2 issues per year, distributed to 2,000+ alumni, parent of current student, and “Friend of Newman” households nationwide and available online.
  • Sponsor Board – a large sponsorship board will be present at all major events in Campus Ministry and the parish including, but not limited to, the Campus Ministry Welcome BBQ,
  • Homecoming weekend events (alumni tailgate, alumni receptions after Mass, etc.), Family Weekend events (receptions after Mass, family brunch, etc.), and parish spaghetti dinners (6 annually).
  • Online presence on the business sponsor page of our website with links to your website and/or social media.
  • Emails and social media posts once a year to all resident parishioners, parents of students, alumni, and current students highlighting your sponsorship.

How will my gift be used?

You have the option of giving your contribution to a specific area of interest in our ministry, or as an unrestricted gift to be used in an area of most need. Some of your choices are listed below:

Service & Justice Programming: Your funds will be used to benefit all justice programming, which would include:
• Supplies for the twice-annual days of service.
• Food and supplies for cooking at the Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen.
• Activities related to our sister parish in El Salvador.
• Mission trips for the students – domestic and international.

Retreats and Spirituality: Your gift in this area is needed to subsidize expenses, lowering the actual cost of participation for our students:
• Twice-annual Awakenings Retreats, which serve 200+ students each semester.
• Supplies for the weekly Ephesians 3 program, serving 100+ students every Wednesday.
• Special liturgical supplies for the 8 p.m. student Mass.
• Resources for our new Living Truth program, which prepares our students for living a faith-filled life post-graduation.

Evangelization: As we seek to share the Good News on campus, your gift in this area would allow us to:
• Host our annual Welcome BBQ and Welcome Mass on the Quad, which are often the first point of contact for new students.
• Subsidize our costs to have FOCUS missionaries on campus. The missionaries train our students to share the Good News with their peers and to lead bible studies (we currently have 40+ bible studies on campus to date).
• Supplies for our specialty nights, including Men’s Night, Women’s Night, and Greek Night (each occur once a semester).

Use my gift where it is most needed: We have a large ministry serving 1,000+ students over the course of a year. Your unrestricted gift will be used in our greatest areas of need.

What is the length of the sponsorship?

All business sponsorships will be active for one year, starting July 1 through June 30 of the following year. For this inaugural year, all businesses who commit by March 1, 2017 will receive a special feature in the May 2017 Alumni/Parent Newsletter as well as all benefits listed in the sponsorship levels below.
