Adult Faith Formation Classes for Fall 2017
There will be two Adult Faith Formation Classes offered this fall!
1 — Understanding Vatican II by Dr. Jill Raitt
Dr. Jill Raitt, Professor Emerita of Religious Studies at Mizzou, is offering the class “Understanding Vatican II.” Classes will be Thursdays, 1-2:30 p.m. from September 7 to October 26 in the Disciples Room. Vatican II is the twenty-first ecumenical (world-wide) council of the Catholic Church that took place October 1962 through December 1965. Each class will consist of a brief background by Dr. Raitt and discussion of the reading (about 30 pages per class). The text is Keys To the Council: Unlocking the Teaching of Vatican II by Richard Galillardetz and Catherine Clifford ($13.70 from Amazon).
Students may take this class for credit hours at the University of Missouri. Please contact Dr. Raitt (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
2 — The Gospel of Mark by Sr. Karen
Sr. Karen Freund, O.P. will teach “The Gospel of Mark” on Thursday mornings from 10-11:30 a.m. Classes will begin September 7 and end December 7 (excluding November 9 and 23). Mark’s Gospel reveals the human side of Jesus, our call to trust and discipleship, and the challenge of service to others as the way we daily take up the cross and follow Jesus. This is the Gospel proclaimed in Year B, our next Liturgical Cycle. Each week we will also share insights that help us understand the following Sunday’s Gospel.
